The Second Day

こんにちは、5Aの國塩です

Hello. I’m Yuka Kunishio, and a 5th year student. My course is architecture. 

アメリカ二日目、

今朝はホテルをチェックアウトし、Fumikoさんが迎えに来て下さいました！

雨の降りしきる中、長時間運転してくださったFumikoさん。感謝です。

Today is the second day in America.

We checked out Hotel in this morning, Ms.Fumiko came to pick us up.

It was raining cats and dogs, but she had driven for a long time. Thank you Fumiko san!

まずはアメリカのreal foodを食べようと、向かったのはEat’n Park

女性陣はスープ&サラダバーを注文しました。

男性陣はというとFlatbread（ピザに似ている）を頼み、

最後に甘いクッキーが登場。これはアンケートを書くのと引き換えに…笑

First, let’s eat American real foods! So, we went to Eat’n Park.

Women ordered soup&salad bar.
Men ordered Flatbread. However, finally, a sweet cookie was there.
This means please write a questionnaire…

これぞAmerican real food

This is American real food.

どのお野菜も新鮮で、スープもとっても美味しくて、ついついおかわりしてしまいます。

大満足のブランチでした！

The vegetables were fresh, and the soup was also tasty.

I can’t stop eating…. It was a very happy brunch.

Polymath Parkへ向かう道中、Wilpen Hallを訪れました！

こちらは一般的な住宅とはちがいます。

1900年に夏の別荘として、ゲストのおもてなしするために設計されたものです。
巨大な富を築いていた一族がつくりあげた大豪邸で、ベッドルームはなんと2階に9部屋あります。

ここを管理されている、Dr.Coreyさんが迎えて下さり、案内してくださいました。

On the way to Polymath Park, we visited Wilson Hall.

This building is not typically house. 
In 1900, as summer house, It was designed to entertain many guests.

The family has great asset built the mansion.
There are 9 bedrooms in the second floor...!!
Dr.Corey who manages here welcomed and guided us.

This is National Register of Historic Places.

のら猫Tomも、この別荘の住ねこです。

Stray cats, Tom, he is also resident.

建物だけでなく、絨毯、家具や食器に至るまで全てが繊細で、作りこまれています。
高価な品々であふれていました…

特別に寝室も拝見しました。あまりの美しさに圧倒されます。

Not only the building but also carpet, furniture, dishes...
Everything are delicate and elaborate. And they were so expensive...I guess.

We could see bedrooms especially. They were too beautiful so that I was overwhelmed...

お天気はよくなかったですが、雨に濡れてしっとりしたお庭もまた綺麗でした！

100年以上の紫陽花もありました…！

The weather was not good, but the moist garden was beautiful too.

There's ’ajisai/紫陽花’ that is over 100 years old. Wow.

ぜひPittsburghへお越しの際は訪れることをオススメします！

You can’t take pictures inside of the building, 

but you should go there when you come to Pittsburgh. I recommend!

別荘を出て、carriage houseも拝見しました！

馬車に乗ってみると、まるでタイムスリップしたかのような気分でした。

We could visit a carriage house. When I get on the carriage, I felt like time travel.

そしてCoreyさんが焼いてくださったピーナッツバタークッキーをいただきました。

病みつきになる美味しさです！ついつい食べすぎてしまいました。

And we ate peanut butter cookies that Dr.Corey baked.

I became addicted…It was really delicious. I had eaten cookies too much.

そのあとは遂にPolymath Parkへ！

Then, we arrived at Polymath park!

Park内にあるTree Topsというレストランで、

最後の晩餐Last meal、ならぬ、最初の晩餐First mealをいただきました。

In Tree Tops, a restaurant in Polymath Park,

we had a first meal, not last meal.

お茶が美味しいです…

そして粒々のキヌアの入ったスープや、ふっくらしたお魚…

胃に優しいヘルシーなメニューで、本当に美味しかったです。ごちそうさまでした！

Tea was wonderful…

These menus are easy to eat, so really tasty…so thank you!!

そして宿泊させていただくのはBlum House

フランク・ロイド・ライトの弟子が設計した住宅です。

Lastly, we stay Blum house.

This house was designed by the apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright.

さて、今日は食事が充実していて、幸せな1日となりました…

出会った方々に、心から感謝します！

Today’s meal was amazing, we had a happy day.

I really appreciate people that we met.

明日からはPark内での建設プロジェクトに参加します。楽しみです。

それに、森の中では鹿やリスと出会えるようです。

鹿ファミリーには何度か遭遇しましたが、まだリスには出会えていませんが…

And I heard we can see deer and squirrel in the forest.

We saw deers family a few times, but we haven’t seen squirrel yet….
